I don’t remember when Ellen (the bride) and I began talking about having a wedding shower for her at my home, and IDEALLY in my garden. I do know it was long before she met the man of her dreams, began planning her nuptials, postponing her nuptials because of Covid, and then planning her nuptials again. She was in my son Johnny’s class all through elementary and high school, is the daughter of a very dear friend, and was in carpool with my boys for years and years. As it turned out, her friends planned the magical event, and I just held it in my home. A privilege to be sure, and beautifully executed by these talented young women. Sadly, way too hot to be out in the garden… But it didn’t keep us from savoring incredible chicken salad , prevent us from enjoying delicate cucumber sandwiches, consuming multiple mimosas and lemon bars, and creating flower bouquets in my studio to the sound of much laughter, French music and great gaiety. Memories made.
